Exactly right, it helps you take notice of things you might tend to overlook. I take mine to museums and use it on dinosaurs, too. It gives a unique perspective when you’re at a fixed 100mm 🙂
I find that it sometimes reveals dust on things around the house, which I hadn’t noticed before!

Dinosaurs in London! A dream for me! A few years ago, there was an excellent dinosaur exhibit in Baltimore (fossils found in China, very interesting). I have to keep looking for new exhibits … they are rare to find!

A macro lens is certainly a great way to see things – it helps you take notice, I find! You might not need macro for dinosaurs, though…
